Women Educators to Be Topic of Bandy Center Colloquium

“Old Frontiers, New Frontiers: Women in Higher Education in Georgia” will be the topic of the 2012 Dicksie Bradley Band Colloquium  to be held Friday afternoon, March 30, at Dalton State College’s James E. Brown Center.

Four select scholars will share the history and experiences of women in Georgia’s higher education system covering topics such as the life of Martha Berry, the history of education for women in the Progressive Era, participation by women in Georgia STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs, and the situations facing women in Georgia’s higher education system today.

Lectures will be presented by Dr. Jennifer Dickey, Assistant Professor of History, Coordinator of Public History Program, Kennesaw State University; Dr. Judy Cornett, Department Chair of Social Sciences, Professor of History; Dalton State College, Dr. Lisa Rossbacher, President, Southern Polytechnic State University; and Dr. Sandra Stone, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dalton State College.

The free program is sponsored by The Bandy Heritage Center for Northwest Georgia and is open to the public. The program will be from 1:30-4.30 p.m. at Dalton State College’s James E. Brown Center, room 105. Seating is available on a first-come, first served basis.
