Dalton State Offers One-Stop Shop for Speedy Admission
March 28, 2014
Individuals wishing to begin or resume a college education are invited to attend Dalton State College’s upcoming Quick Admit Days to facilitate the application, enrollment, and registration process. Quick Admit Day will be from 8 am to 5 pm, Wednesday, April 16 at the Gilmer County Center on the Square in Ellijay and on Dalton State’s main campus in Dalton on Friday, April 18.
“We are serious about removing obstacles to college admission,” said Dr. Andy Meyer, Dalton State’s Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs. “Our Quick Admit Days are designed to offer prospective students the opportunity to work through the application process with trained admission and financial aid counselors on hand to offer advice and answer questions.”
“Predictions indicate that by 2020, Georgia will need an additional 250,000 college graduates to meet labor force demands,” added Meyer. “With 17 bachelor’s degrees and a range of associate and certificate degree programs, Dalton State graduates can help meet that demand.”
Dalton State offers bachelor degree programs in Accounting, Biology, Chemistry, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, English, History, Interdisciplinary Studies, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Mathematics, Organizational Leadership (online degree), Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, and Technology Management.
“Another important reason to consider Dalton State,” said Meyer, “is that the U.S. Department of Education has for the third year in a row identified Dalton State College as having among the lowest tuition and fees in the nation.”
“We are especially reaching out to working adults who may have started, but never finished a college degree,” said Meyer. “At Dalton State, we have programs available to help shorten the time to degree; you could even earn credit for training received in the military and on the job, and we’re also offering a bachelor’s degree program that is completely online.”
Those planning to come to Dalton State’s Quick Admit Day should call for an appointment and bring: official high school transcript (unopened); official college transcript(s) (unopened); application fee of $30; driver’s license issued after January 1, 2008 (those holding licenses issued before January 1, 2008, will need to provide a certified birth certificate or a United States passport); and COMPASS scores, if available. Those who need COMPASS scores and do not have them can take the COMPASS test on Quick Admit Day or schedule it for a later date.
